Although I loved both Cam and Gannon, I didn’t feel I got to know Gannon as well. The story focuses a lot on Cam’s relationship issues and problems. Gannon’s issues are written about, but we don’t get to see them the way we see Cam’s. (Sure, we see Gannon’s water issues…I’m talking relationship issues.) There’s even a part of the book that Gannon and his BFF Milly discuss the fact that Cam didn’t really acknowledge Gannon’s feelings when they had a big fight. But it never got brought up again. That was disappointing.Now, I don’t want you to think I didn’t enjoy this book. I actually really liked the story and getting to know the guys at Pier 70. I’m looking forward to learning more about all of them, especially Hudson and Teague. The relationship Cam’s dad has with him and all of the other guys is wonderful and it was great to read about such a supportive dad when the mom isn’t around. We don’t really get to meet Cam’s sister and her family in any significant way. It makes me wonder if she’ll be involved in future stories. If not, she was really a throw-away character.
I guess what it comes down to is depth. I love ALL the characters, even those I didn’t see too much, and the story line. There were quite a few warm-fuzzy moments that really gave me an attachment to both Cam and Gannon. And the chemistry between the two is off the charts…hot, hot, hot. Yet as a whole I felt there was a lot more to the story if we could have just seen one or two more layers down.
As many of you know, I am reading all of Nicole Edwards’ books in order of publication. Although all of her books can be read at standalone, I find I love the crossovers through the different series so I’m enjoying reading them in order. This book absolutely can be read without reading any of her other books. It truly stands very strongly as the first of a series and not one of a sub-series.

Reckless is book one in the Pier 70 series and is a M/M contemporary romance. They say that opposites attract and that's definitely the case with Cam and Gannon. Cam is the rugged outdoorsman/adventurer where as Gannon is the computer "nerd". Cam seemed more laid back and Gannon was more up tight. None of that mattered though when it came to their chemistry. WHEW...TALK ABOUT HOT! I loved watching these two charmers find their way to a loving relationship despite their overwhelming differences and the problems they each had to overcome. Cam and Gannon were both strong, substantial characters in their own way and they each had fears that held them back from commitment. As always, Nicole Edwards did a fantastic job creating characters that were colorful, relatable and loveable! There's not a whole lot of over the top drama in this story but what I really enjoyed was reading snippets from the secondary character's POVs. It gave me a broader glimpse into this sensual world of delicious men! Told mostly from dual POV with a sweet, sexy ending.

There was a lot of hype about this book, and judging by the teasers, I was excited to tick it off my TBR.
Whilst this book was good, it wasn't brilliant.
Gannon was a strange character, one minute he was suppose to be all shy and blushing at the what Milly was saying infront of Cam during the first meeting to then driving an hour to ask Cam out.
Cam was also a hard to decipher.. why was his name Reckless? He didn't do anything to crazy during the book, I wish we would of seen him do something dangerous and actually experience him earning his Reckless title... all he really did do is mope around.
The whole tension building with Roan kinda fizzled out into nothing which I was kind of disappointed about it i am honest, I expected more of a bang regarding that whole issue.
Also, as understanding as I am of Cam's situation and fears, I wish something happened to actually make him worry.. plane accident, hospital visit, hotel robbery.. something for him to actually justify going all 180 for no real reason other then Gannon having to work..
Dare, Teague and Hudson were fun side characters, I can't wait to read more about them, unfortunately I am in no read rush to enter back into the world of Pier 70 Marina.
I have read all of Nicole's books but I was not sure how an all M/M series would be received. I really liked the book. The only thing it was missing as in her other series was the suspense/danger. This book had none of that . It had it struggles and ups and downs but no suspense or danger. This is the first book in the series and you meet Cam along with his friends who own and operate a marina. Cam along with his friends are gay. Enter Gannon who was pulled there by his best friend/assistant to book an outing for his employees. Gannon wanted no parts of this as he hates the water. Cam and Gannon meet and the attraction is immediate. Although they don't know what it is and fight it because they are polar opposites as Cam is a water enthusiast and Gannon is a gamer. But the attraction is too strong and eventually they give in. Problem one Cam's mom died while away on a business trip and when Gannon has to go away it sends him into a panic attack and he feels like it is easier to break up then think positive. Problem two Gannon has been abandoned by his family because he is gay and feels that is what Cam s doing to him. Enter Milly Gannon's best friend who helps bridge them back together. What I didn't like about the book was the end. Gannon agreed to go to counseling with Cam to help with his panic attacks. I looked forward to the proposal and wedding but we had none of that. The epilog they were getting married and sitting at the counselor’s office after several counseling sessions and Cam was handling the traveling better. Gannon had brought land to build their home on the lake. I do however look forward to reading the next book in the series to continue on.
